An income tax return must be filed on or before April 15 of each year. Taxpayers should start early as often times your tax return may be more complicated than you think. You could be eligible for special credits or refunds. For example, homeowners who bought hybrid cars or made energy saving improvements may be able to claim a tax credit. In addition, you may be able to contribute to an IRA before the tax deadline as well. Starting early will allow you to sit down with your accountant and determine the best way to lower your taxable income.
